JACKSON, MI - - FEBRUARY 28, 2001 - - Patrick Racing concluded its pre-season testing program in preparation for the 2001 FedEx Championship Series with a two-day test on the Homestead road course, February 27-28, in Homestead Florida,

Jimmy Vasser drove both days of the final test running approximately 250 miles (150 the first day and 100 the second).

"This was a very productive test," said Patrick Racing General Manager Jim McGee. "We worked on a variety of things and were very pleased with the data we acquired. Because of the similarities between the Homestead road course and the circuit in Mexico, I think the work we did the last two days gives us a good starting point and direction to go in Mexico."

Vasser, who will pilot the #40 Patrick Racing Toyota Reynard, was equally pleased with the results of the test and pronounced the team ready for the season opening Tecate Telmex Monterrey Grand Prix presented by Herdez, March 9-11, in Monterrey, Mexico.

"We worked on a lot things and had a good test at Homestead," Vasser said. "We ran very competitively and I think we are well prepared for the start of the season. The Homestead road course is very similar to the Monterrey track so a lot of the things we worked on the last two days will help us at the season opener. We definitely have a good base and direction to start with down there."
