"We had a lot of oversteer for my initial run," said Dixon. "After we got sticker tires with about 15 minutes left in qualifying, and toned down the aero on the front of my car, we ended up putting in my fast lap the second time around. Then, a few laps later, we were on a flyer and up three tenths on my best time when we ran into traffic and lost our momentum. Before the session ended, with about three minutes remaining, we were getting low on fuel so I got on the gas to put in another flying lap, but I locked up my rear tires and flat-spotted them - which ultimately ended the session for me. I am happy with my starting position considering how the weekend started and I anticipate a good race Sunday."
MAURICIO GUGELMIN - # 17 NEXTEL PACWEST TOYOTA

"I was hitting the ground a lot to start the session, but my high speed balance remained ok," said Gugelmin. "Unfortunately, my front right brakes locked up on me a couple of times to start the session so we had to sort that out. We were able to gain some rear grip after a few changes, and were ready to get on the gas after we put on stickers. I was putting in a pretty good time on my last lap, but the rear of my car stepped out on me in the final turn and screwed-up my chances to improve my starting position. We could have maybe improved four or five more positions. I'm not very happy with my run, but there is nothing I can do about it now. We'll line up tomorrow and fight for position like everyone else and see if we can't gather up some points with a great race strategy."
