Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports driver Michel Jourdain Jr. took 18th spot on the grid for the Firestone Firehawk 500 race, which will be held this Saturday on the 1.549-mile Twin Ring Motegi, in Japan. Michel's best lap was his last, with a time of 26.915 seconds at an average speed of 207.186 Mph.

Michel Jourdain Jr., Car #16, Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports: "We made some adjustments on the car that were good, but the changing conditions, and increasing wind hurt our time. The car developed oversteer at Turns 1 and 2 and pushed in Turns 3 and 4. We were much faster in comparison with yesterday's times, and we hope to give a good performance like we did in Brazil."

Joe Ward, Team Manager, Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports: "We made a change before qualifying and it helped the car, but the weather changed dramatically and that hurt us in Turns 1 and 2. We expect a good race with this chassis, though."

Antonio Marron, Motorsports Director, Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports: "We were much better today. However, we still need to be quicker. Tomorrow the race is going to be long and with good pit stops we can finish in a good spot."
