Pre-season preparations are in full swing for the Zakspeed/Forsythe Racing Team, as they made their debut on the 1.502-mile Homestead oval today. Day one of the two-day test proved to be successful as Bryan Herta, driver of the #77 Ford-Reynard completed 183 trouble free miles, and earned the second quickest time of the day, just behind fellow American Michael Andretti.

"Bryan did a good job for us again today," said Steve Dickson, team manager. "We completed somewhere around 122 laps, and his times were right in there, in fact he did one of his best laps towards the end of the day, on high mileage tires."

With temperatures in the upper 70's and fairly strong winds, Herta was happy with today's accomplishments. "The guys are doing a great job. I have been able to get a lot out of the car each test day, and with this year's testing restrictions, that is essential." Herta continued, "we made several changes to the car today, and we continue to learn and develop. At the same time, our lap times have been right in there among the quickest. We have full day planned for tomorrow, I look forward to continuing our progress."

Herta is one of nine Ford powered CART drivers, representing the manufacturer in it's 100th year of racing.
