Pacificare driver Junqueira third in provisional qualifying for Molson Indy Montreal; Lilly driver Bourdais fourth.
BRUNO JUNQUEIRA, #1 PacifiCare Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone: "The PacifiCare car was very good today and we thought we could fight for the pole. I did two timed laps on the first run and on my third lap I was seven-tenths of a second faster and the red flag came out for (Max) Papis. It was a bit frustrating because after the red flag everyone went out at once and I could not get a good lap. I got stuck behind Tiago (Monteiro) and then had the problem with Oriol. It was the second time in a row that he hit me in the back. He hit me pretty hard. The car was a little bit bent but I did my best lap at the end and it put me third. Traffic made it impossible which is too bad because I think we had a good car. We are looking forward to tomorrow because we think we have a good chance to do well."
* NOTES: It will be his second race here... Started third and finished 13th due to engine failure last year...He is currently ranked second in the point standings with 164 to Tracy's 184.
SEBASTIEN BOURDAIS, #2 Lilly Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone: "We were really very close - we were only 900ths of a second behind P2 (second place). On my first run I had a problem with traffic but not on my second run. We will work to see if we can improve the car and improve our starting position."
* NOTES: Will be his first race here...He earned four poles (3-road course; 1-oval) and three wins in 13 events so far. (He started in second place in England and fifth in Long Beach.) Has won a total of six bonus points this season (Friday & Saturday in St. Pete; Saturday in Monterrey, Saturday and Sunday in Germany; Friday in Cleveland)...He is currently ranked 4th in the point standings with 126 points.
* TEAM NOTES: In one Champ Car event held here to date, the team has earned ONE pole (da Matta 2002) and ONE podium (2nd da Matta 2002)...LAST YEAR IN MONTREAL: NHR's da Matta led the first 35 laps from pole but the team elected for a conservative pit strategy and he finished second as a result. Fittipaldi started 11th and finished 7th.
