Heylen Completes First Laps at Circuit Mont Tremblant, Finishing Provisional Qualifying in Twelfth
Jan Heylen Quote
"Coming into today's session we were at a little bit of a disadvantage to teams who tested here for two days in May," said Heylen. "We were able to make up for some of the difference in experience and improved our times between the morning practice and the provisional qualifying run. Twelfth isn't where I ultimately want to be but we'll just have to work on getting the car a little bit better and go back out tomorrow. My goal is to have an even stronger run in tomorrow's final session and qualify in the top ten."
Eric Bachelart Quote
"I'm happy to see how much we have been able to improve from practice to qualifying today," said Eric Bachelart, Conquest Racing team manager. "Considering we did not test here in May like most of everybody, we were able to set a good time today and it will be a good foundation to improve upon tomorrow."
The final grid for the first round of the Champ Car Grand Prix at Mont Tremblant will be determined after the final qualifying session on Saturday, June 30th. The green flag drops on the sixth round of the 2007 Champ Car World Series on Sunday, July 1st at 2:00 p.m. EST. The race will be broadcast live on ESPN beginning at 2:00 p.m. EST as well as broadcast live on XM Satellite Radio Channel 205.
Mont Tremblant is the first leg of the Champ Car Canadian Triple Crown which will pit teams against each other over the three successive Canadian races. The competition will continue next week in Toronto (July 8) and will conclude in Edmonton on July 22nd. Standings in the Triple Crown will be based upon a combined average finish for each team.
