Sigma Autosport Makes Gradual Improvements During First Day at Monterrey

MONTERREY, Mexico - It turned out to be an unusually tough day for Sigma Autosport driver Max Papis during the first day of qualifying for the Tecate/Telmex Monterrey Grand Prix.

In the morning session, Papis had brake woes in his #22 Sigma Autosport Lola-Ford/Cosworth. During qualifying, Papis said he had an oversteering problem, but still improved on his morning effort by more than three seconds.

Papis' fastest time was 81.992 seconds (92.380 mph) around the 2.104-mile circuit.

Final qualifying begins on Saturday at 1:45 p.m. Central Time.
