Team statements following today's announcement that Mercedes-Benz is pulling out of the CART FedEx Championship Series following the 2000 season:

MORRIS NUNN

"Naturally, we are disappointed in the decision by Mercedes-Benz. The reason I started Hollywood/Mo Nunn Racing to begin with was the unique opportunity to partner with Mercedes-Benz in its drive to return to the CART racing forefront. I had every reason to believe that together we had what it takes to win championships. Mercedes-Benz's decision has challenged our organization, to say the least. But racing is a business that is full of challenges, and changes. We now must evaluate all of our options and make some decisions."

TONY KANAAN

"I'll have to say I am surprised to hear that Mercedes is leaving CART after this season. I made the decision to come to drive for Morris's new team this year not only because I really wanted to work with him, but because everyone had such high hopes that we could win races and championships with Mercedes-Benz. I'm not sure where we go from here. But I am confident that team management wants the same success for the team as I do."
