WEST ALLIS, Wis. – Luiz Garcia Jr. qualified for his first Miller Lite 225 this afternoon at the Milwaukee Mile.
Garcia, 29, hopes to give team owner Andreas Leberle a nice birthday present on Sunday with a points paying position. Garcia drove his 2000 Hollywood-Embratel-Tang-Banco Sofisa-Reynard/Mercedes-Benz to a fast time of 22.610 seconds (164.317 mph).
Tomorrow’s race begins at 3 p.m. Central Time.
“I really felt good during qualifying. You know it’s still a bit tough when we lose time on the track with small problems to the car. We can’t afford to have those problems. I do think there has been a lot of improvement with each oval. From Motegi, Nazareth, and now here, I’ve felt a lot more confident and good about the car. We have a lot more data on the car and now we can work on a better set up and have a good race.” – Luiz Garcia Jr., Driver
“Luiz did a good job today and will do a good one for us tomorrow during the race. We are confident of a good run and are looking forward to this race.” – Andreas Leberle, Team Owner
