TEAM OZ PERFORMS WELL IN OPEN TEST
Team Australia's Alex Tagliani has posted the third-fastest time in a Champ Car World Series open test at Milwaukee today.
The result has put Tagliani is a good position for tomorrow's official qualifying for the fourth round of the series in Champ Car's only oval appearance this season.
Tagliani's teammate, young Australian Will Power, was 10th fastest in the open test.
There will be practice and qualifying for Milwaukee tomorrow.
WHAT THEY HAD TO SAY
ALEX TAGLIANI - #15 TEAM AUSTRALIA/AUSSIE VINEYARDS LOLA
"It was great to get back in the car," said Tagliani.
"The team is doing a great job and with each race we improve and make great improvements to the car. It was a good run today, we made a lot of good adjustments and ran a good lap time.
"An oval is tricky, if your car is bad then it is really hard, today our car was good so the oval was easy. I'm hoping to get back on the podium for the race and get in the top three for qualifying tomorrow."
WILL POWER - #5 TEAM AUSTRALIA/AUSSIE VINEYARDS LOLA
"I really enjoy the oval because it's something new and different," said Power.
"I feel we ran well today, and I got a good feel for the car. Racing on an oval is really all about your confidence level, if you feel confident then you will do well.
"Today I felt really confident out there, which helped me to feel more comfortable in the car. You have to drive at 7/10 to be safe, you can't afford anything else or you will run into the wall.
"The first test was a lot of learning time for me, and this time I was able to get more comfortable. Tonight I will think about everything and for tomorrow hope for a good qualifying position."
DERRICK WALKER -- CO-OWNER TEAM AUSTRALIA
"Alex and Will did very well today. Alex finished with a third place position and Will finished with his fastest lap time," said Walker.
"We were able to make some good changes to the car so for tomorrow we can hopefully have a good result in the qualifying session."
CRAIG GORE -- CO-OWNER TEAM AUSTRALIA
"So far so good," said Gore.
"We had a tough run at Milwaukee last year because we were there for the first time with the Lola, but the playing field has evened up a bit.
"Today's test has provided the team with some positive feedback heading into the serious part of the weekend."
