MILLER GENUINE DRAFT 200 Wisconsin State Fair Park The Milwaukee Mile West Allis, Wis. Race Story Sunday, June 5, 1994
PENSKE 1-2-3 AT MILWAUKEE -------------------------
Marlboro Tean Penske dominated today's Miller Genuine Draft 200 finishing one-two-three. Al Unser Jr. lead the team across the line followed by Emerson Fittipaldi and Paul Tracy. The three Penske-Ilmors ran away from the field, lapping every competitor. Unser and Fittipaldi dueled in the second half of the race, but Unser was able to hold the lead despite every effort by Fittipaldi. Unser came from 11th in the starting field to take the lead on lap 31.
For Unser, it was his third consecutive win in PPG Cup competition going back to Indianapolis and Long Beach. It marked the first time that Penske Racing had ever scored more than three victories in a row (including Phoenix).
Rain with 20 laps to go brought an early end to today's race. After running under the yellow for a handful of laps, the race was red-flagged as rain began to fall heavily.
Unser's win today on the Milwaukee Mile was his third in a row and pushes him into a solid lead in the PPG Cup championship. Unser's has 79 points after five of 16 races followed by Fittipaldi with 54 poits and Nigel Mansell with 49 points.
Fourth place today was taken by Michael Andretti who took the place from Nigel Mansell just one lap before the race's final yellow. Mansell was fifth followed by Robby Gordon, Bobby Rahal, Raul Boesel, Jacques Villeneuve and Bryan Herta.
