Michel Jourdain, #9
Veteran driver Michel Jourdain, Jr. gave the rookie RuSPORT squad its first podium finish in just its third Champ Car showing at tonight's Time Warner Road Runner 250 at the legendary Milwaukee Mile. Jourdain, who scored his first Champ Car victory last season under the lights at Milwaukee, quickly advanced through the field from his ninth place starting position to claim third by Lap 60 of the 250-lap race.
"To come here and finish on the podium for RuSPORT, the first podium, and to have AJ finish fifth as well is just fantastic for the team. I'm so happy for AJ, for the whole team to get both cars in the top-five. It's only the third race and I think this team is just going to get so much better with time. I thought we were going to do good this weekend. We had a test here a month ago and I was feeling pretty good coming into this weekend. Except on Thursday we were terrible, but we just kept making progress again as the weekend went on. We were fast, especially at the beginning of the race. At the end, I couldn't keep pace (with the leaders), but I was on the lead lap so I just wanted to keep my nose clean to be there at the end."
Carl Russo, Team Owner
"This finish shows the effect that Michel has had on this team. He's the consummate professional and you see why he was a championship-contending driver last season. A rookie team in the third race and we're on the podium. A lot of that credit goes to Michel."
