Mario Dominguez - Driver, Car 55
We showed up with a good car here right out of the box - like last weekend in Elkhart Lake, the testing we did here at Mid Ohio really helped us have a good starting point. I think we had enough left in the car that we could have even improved a bit more. I was up over a tenth on the lap when the red flag came out. I doubt we had enough to catch Paul (Tracy) but I think the second spot was within our reach for sure. The goal for tomorrow will be to have our best qualifying of the year. Fourth would do that for us but I think we have what it takes to do even better than that.
Roberto Moreno - Driver, Car 4
We are pleased with the results from today. Earlier in the season I missed the Mid-Ohio test because of a virus, but I think the team has recovered quickly from our missed testing opportunity. We have a couple of things to improve on the car for tomorrow, but overall I think we will have a good car to work with. During the session I ran into traffic on the first and second run and as a result spoiled my two best laps because I had to back off.
Mario's provisional qualifying position of 4th matches his best Friday qualifying mark so far this season (round one at St. Petersburg), and if it holds on Saturday will be the best grid position of his Champ Car career.
Moreno has six previous starts at Mid-Ohio, with a best finish of 6th in 2001.
Dominguez has one Champ Car start at Mid-Ohio (2002; start 18th, finish 16th), and two additional starts while in the now-defunct Dayton Indy Lights series (2000; start 11th, finish 11th and 2001; start 7th, finish 6th).
Dominguez currently stands 4th (behind Jourdain, Fernandez and Carpentier) in total miles completed so far this season with 2312.893 of a possible 2457.900 (94.1%).
At least one Herdez Competition driver has placed in the top ten in each of the first twelve events (including five top-fives), setting a new team mark.
