TEAM KOOL GREEN AT THE U.S. 500

PAUL TRACY, #26 TEAM KOOL GREEN REYNARD/HONDA/FIRESTONE: (Started 18th / Finished 4th at Michigan in 1997; Currently 13th in PPG Cup standings with 32 points)

“We tested the new rear wing CART developed to slow cars down at the end of June. We were able to run a variety of different setups, trying a range of settings for qualifying and under race conditions. It will be interesting to see how everyone adjusts to the new wing. Personally, I feel the new wing makes it pretty easy to run full throttle when you're the only one on the track. The big challenge will be getting the car comfortable in traffic race conditions. I think we’re ready and I know we’re due for a good race.”

DARIO FRANCHITTI, #27 TEAM KOOL GREEN REYNARD/HONDA/FIRESTONE: (Started 13th / Finished 19th at Michigan in 1997; Currently 6th in PPG Cup standings with 66 points)

“The new wing has slowed the cars down a little bit, but not a whole lot. We were still reaching speeds around 220 mph in our tests at Michigan. That ’s fast, I don’t care what anyone says. And everyone will likely go faster in qualifying. It’s true I don’t have a lot of experience on the super speedways, but I am very confident in my engineer Don Halliday. Don and my crew have been giving me great cars all season long. I feel just sick about what happened in Toronto. It really hurt to see their hard work go to waste, being so close to winning. But, I know a win will come in short order.”

NAOKI HATTORI, #27 TEAM KOOL GREEN LOLA (PPG-DAYTON INDY LIGHTS CHAMPIONSHIP): (Currently 11th overall with 42 points)

“I’m told that the super speedway in Fontana is very similar to Michigan. So, I feel good about my chances at Michigan because I finished sixth in Fontana last year. I am also coming off of my best finish ever in racing in North America. Standing on the podium for finishing second in Toronto has given everyone on Team KOOL Green a lot of confidence.”

ALEX GURNEY, #27 TEAM KOOL GREEN (BARBER DODGE PRO SERIES): (Team Green Academy Class of ’97/’98 graduate racing in Grand Rapids, Michigan this weekend)

“There’s seven races left in the season and I feel we’re getting more and more competitive each time out. At the last race in Cleveland, I had my best result of the season finishing ninth. So, I’m inching my way forward. I continue to work with Derek Daly and Bob Earl from the Team Green Academy and that has been a big help. I’ve also enjoyed hanging around and learning more from the CART guys in Cleveland and as a fan in Toronto. But I’m eager to get behind the wheel in Grand Rapids.”
