Despite having a limited track-time this weekend, Herdez-backed driver Michel Jourdain Jr. was able to have a 2.947-second improvement during the last qualifying session over his yesterday's best time (1'17.821 at 108.526 Mph.), and he qualified with his back-up car. Today, Michel's best lap was a 1'14.874 at 112.797 Mph. and he will start from the 16th spot after Tony Kanaan's car was withdrawn.

Michel Jourdain Jr., Car #16, Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports: "During the weekend, we had a limited track time that hurt us on the grid positions. However, the car was very loose, the Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports Team worked hard to improve it. Towards the end of the day, it was much better. We are going to keep working on it and we will analyze the information we have to make further changes for tomorrow's warm-up session. For the race, it depends how the weather develops, but we are very close to the times and I think we can finish the race and get some points. We have to be very smart with the strategy, since on this track this is a key factor."

Joe Ward, Team Manager, Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports: "The team is very pleased with the three-second improvement we had over yesterday's qualifying, considering the limited amount of laps that we've done this morning."
