Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports driver Michel Jourdain Jr. looked impressive during the race Rio 200, held at the trioval Emerson Fittipaldi Speedway at the Nelson Piquet International Raceway in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Michel charged from the 22nd spot to run up to seventh, before retiring. Giving one of his best performances since Fontana in 1997. Jourdain Jr. eventually was classified in the race results in the 15th position.

Michel Jourdain Jr., Car #16, Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports: "The Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports Team did a great job. We made a big change for the race and the car was much better. I am very happy with our performance. I am impressed with the car and the engine, despite developing some looseness during the race, but they were able to improve it taking off front wing every time we pitted and we could overtake several guys. For the last scheduled pit stop, we wanted to use less fuel, but we could not keep running. The car stopped on Turn 2. I don't know what happened, but something was broken, since my seat was full of water and I got burnt."

Joe Ward, Team Manager, Herdez/Bettenhausen: "The engine lost oil pressure."
