Michael Krumm made his Champcar debut today at the Monterrey Circuit in Mexico, taking to the track for the first free practice, which was shortened due to excessive dirt on the track.

Although unrepresentative of the true pace, Michael finished third in the session, which he described as "like driving on ice "

The two and a half hour afternoon session, which followed Indy Lights and several other categories that had been sent out to clean the track, started well for Michael with him setting times that placed him in the first half of the field. At times he was as high as ninth and mostly around position eleven to fourteen, as the track continued to improve with every lap.

In the last forty five minutes Michael remained in the pits while a small clutch problem was resolved before making a final run on new tyres, this was sadly to be wasted as the final red flag of the day was shown and the remainder of the session cancelled.

Michael completed the day in 24th position with a time of 1,21.759, set on very used tyres.

"Today was good, the Lola is very nice to drive and the Ford engine is impressive. The track was gaining time every minute - it is a shame we did not get a lot of running in the last part of the session, but this is OK we can improve tomorrow " Michael commented.
