"Speedy" Dan Racing for the Rookie Title In Mexico City

Rookie Achievements: In just his 10th Champ Car start, British Rookie "Speedy" Dan Clarke became the first (and only) rookie of the season to earn a podium, when he finished third in Denver. In his 12th start, he set another personal best when he became the first rookie of the season to start from the pole position. Prior to joining the Champ Car ranks, Clark raced in British Formula Ford (winner of the Formula Ford Festival) and British F3.

Autosport Rookie of the Year? Dan Clarke is a 2006 Autosport Rookie of the Year nominee. The honor is one of the most prestigious accolades in International motorsport and recognizes achievements of drivers in their first, rookie, season of a motor racing championship.

Lasting Impression: Being a rookie it was a year of firsts for Clarke. While the memories surely left an imprint on the racers mind, his performances this season left a lasting impression on his fans and fellow racers around the world. With relatively limited experience, Clarke jumped in the 750+ horsepower Champ Car and quickly became a contender in the Champ Car World Series. He finished 11th in his series debut a Long Beach, despite it being only the second time he had competed on a street circuit. He has earned seven top-ten finishes including two top-fives, and a pole position.

Creating New Fans: Clarke and his teammate Nelson Philippe will visit the Adulam home for orphans in Mexico City Thursday morning. Clarke and Philippe will present all 50 children with race tickets to the Gran Premio Telmex, provided by Champ Car.

Dan Clarke: "I know what the deal is for Mexico. I need to be one of the front-runners all weekend, straight out of the box. We have the team to do it; I have the ability to get on the pace within a matter of laps, so it's an achievable goal. As at most circuits this season, there's a core of drivers who've driven here before which is a small advantage, but I've also shown that I can be a match for these more experienced drivers, and I'm definitely going to be taking the fight to them this weekend."
