Prior to the opening race of the FedEx Championship Series in Monterrey, Mexico, Max Wilson and his team Arciero Brooke Racing tested for the last time in Phoenix, Arizona at the 1-mile oval of Phoenix International Raceway and at the 1.25-mile circuit of Firebird (East)International Raceway. "In Firebird we did 44 laps on Friday and last Sunday we tested at Phoenix International Raceway. It was a very good day. This was my real first time on a short oval, since in our last test here, we only did just a few laps, because a part broke. This time, we ran about 200 miles and I was getting more comfortable lap by lap. The crew did a very good job. Also, we hadthe chance to practice pit stops. The things are coming along better. I am happy with the results," Wilson said. "In Firebird East, despite of using the 2000 car, I think we were competitive on our effort. One of the main reasons for anyone to test is to get experience. Max (Wilson) not having depth in a Champ Car, but having been a racecar driver for Formula One cars, did quite well. 'We need seat time', that's what he always says. We had some brake issues that we wanted to sort out, which we fully sorted out at Firebird East. Our times were very competitive for a one year-old car, with a best of 47.8 seconds," said Barry Brooke, President of Arciero Brooke Racing. "In PIR we practiced pit stops and we did at least 13 hot stops. There Max felt very comfortable, he got speed very quick. Everybody was impressed and his best time was at 21.26 seconds," Brooke added.
