Dominguez Fifth, Hunter-Reay Seventh in Sun-Drenched Long Beach

Herdez Competition earned two top-ten finishes and set the second and third fastest laps of the race today. Dominguez finished fifth, and set the third fastest lap of the race, Hunter-Reay finished seventh and set the second fastest race lap.

It was a consistent race for Herdez Competition, both drivers made two stops, and they were flawless. Oddly enough, both Dominguez and Hunter-Reay finished the race in the same position as last year! The team will turn its focus to testing this Wednesday and Thursday at Portland International Raceway before heading to the Tecate/TelMex Grand Prix in Monterrey, Mexico next month.

Mario Dominguez, #55 Herdez/Lola/ Ford-Cosworth

Mario on the Race: "I was very happy with my car today, the new soft compound Bridgestone tires were great, I gained a lot of momentum with the new soft compound tires in the second stint which helped me out during the third stint. I was a bit unlucky coming out of the pits on my final stop; I came out behind Lavin and Carpentier and lost some time. I think I had a good shot at a podium finish today so that is disappointing, but I am happy to leaver here with the points we earned today. We showed everyone we have a good package and I can't wait to go for it again next month at a home race for me in Mexico."

Ryan Hunter-Reay, #4 Herdez/Lola/Ford-Cosworth

Ryan on the Race: "I'd like to take the positives out of today. I had a great start and a great first stint, the car felt great, as did my Bridgestones. Unfortunately our second stint turned for the worse, big time. The handling went away and the car was a handful. Then after our second stop, the third stint was much better and that is when I set my best time, the third fastest lap of the race, but it was too little to late. It's not the result I was hoping for and I think we should have done better, but my crew gave me great stops and I'll take the points and turn my focus to Mexico."

Keith Wiggins, Managing Director
"I am a bit disappointed, we seemed to have a pretty good run. The cars were good and our stops were good, but the fuel economy is what hurt us today. I expected to finish better, there were no other issues, just fuel economy."
