JOURDAIN JR. RUNS OUT OF GAS

Herdez driver Michel Jourdain Jr., who started from the 23rd place in the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, managed a brilliant performance by running in the 12th spot. However, with two laps to go the Mexican driver ran out of fuel dropping to the 18 spot.

Michel Jourdain Jr., Car #19 Herdez/Payton-Coyne Racing Team: "During our first pit stop it seemed we had a short in the battery, but the problem was fixed. Then we had to struggle with gear box and engine failures, but we managed to regain positions to be within the points, but at the end we lost the opportunity to achieve at least one point when I ran out of fuel."

Antonio Marron, Motorsports Director of the Herdez/Payton-Coyne Racing Team: "It is a shame, Michel was doing so well and something happened with the computers, because they showed that we had 3.8 gallons of fuel. That is very unfortunate, since Michel had enough time for a splash of fuel during the last laps, with no danger of loosing his position, but it seems to be that the computers failed."
