Paul Tracy 3rd, Mario Dominguez 11th in Long Beach Provisional Qualifying
Long Beach, California -- April 7, 2006 -- A beautiful day in Southern California brought out throngs of Champ Car fanatics to the streets of downtown Long Beach today as the season finally got underway for the Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford. Forsythe Championship Racing's dynamic duo of Canadian Paul Tracy and Mexican Mario Dominguez had mixed results as Dominguez struggled with a balance issue and Tracy found the unforgiving concrete wall late in the first Qualifying session. Despite the setbacks, both drivers were optimistic for Saturday's final round of Qualifying.
Paul Tracy -- 3rd overall -- 1m07.947s / 104.279mph / 167.806kph

"I was pushing really hard. We went out on the Bridgestone alternate tire and they came in really quickly for me and the car felt great. It just slipped a little on me and I hit the wall. I'm an old guy, I am pushing hard to keep up with these young guys! We had a car good enough for Pole, but we were struggling with an annoying gearbox issue throughout the session so I couldn't complete a perfect lap. But we know we have a good car and tomorrow we are going to be a major threat to put it in P1!
Mario Dominguez -- 11th overall -- 1m08.871s / 102.871mph / 165.554kph

"Unfortunately I couldn't complete my last lap because of the red flag so that cost us a few positions. We've been struggling with the balance of the car. We made some changes which made the car a little better, but we still have to work on it for tomorrow. It's great to be back on track and finally get the season started, and what better place to do it than here in Long Beach!"
