Ryan Hunter-Reay, #31 American Spirit/Ford-Cosworth/Reynard
Long Beach Last Year: Hunter-Reay impressed many with his Long Beach debut last year in the CART Toyota Atlantic Series. He earned the provisional pole on Friday. There was a massive first lap incident which crippled most of the field. Hunter-Reay sat in the tires, waiting restlessly to be rescued, when he returned to the track he was four laps down. He did not stay their long; Hunter-Reay raced through the field, made up a lap and set the fastest race lap by nearly one second.
No Limits: American Spirit Team Johansson has combined efforts with Microsoft on the "No Limits Tour." The interactive technology display features Hunter-Reay's #31 Champ Car and will be featured at Universities around the Western United States. Hunter-Reay will appear at various stops along the tour.

Hunter-Reay on Long Beach: "This is a dream come true for me. Since I was a little kid, I have dreamed of this opportunity, I used to watch Mario Andretti race here, this is such an honor. The track is tough, your car has to be good at the hairpin at turn 11, that is the best place to make a pass and that is the place you set-up your next lap getting a good run down the straight. I am really looking forward to the weekend and nothing would be better than to bring home a good result for Merlins (Energy Drink) at their home race."
