Justin eager to get new season underway in Las Vegas
The Champ Car World Series takes to the streets of Las Vegas this weekend for Sunday's inaugural Vegas Grand Prix. The 12 turn, 2.44 mile temporary track circumnavigates sites such as famous Fremont Street and the downtown casinos.
Las Vegas is the season opening event on a 16 race calendar that stretches from April to December, taking in major cities and famous road courses in the US, Canada, Holland, Belgium, China, Australia and Mexico.
It's been a busy off-season for Justin as he's helped the team to prepare the new Panoz DP01 Champ Car. At the same time he's been playing his part in the evolution of RSPORTS, the technical and operational merger between RuSPORT and Rocketsports. Under the RSPORTS umbrella Justin teams up with experienced Canadian driver Alex Tagliani. The pair get on well off track and worked together during testing in March.
Justin's #9 DP01/Cosworth/Bridgestone will carry primary sponsorship from CDW with co-sponsorship from HP, Plantronics, and Edge Tech Corp., EMC", Gulfstream and Time Inc.'s Business and Finance Network. In the run-up to this weekend's event Justin is visiting CDW's offices in Chicago and its major distribution facility in Las Vegas. Along the way he'll meet several thousand enthusiastic CDW employees and launch CDW's new 2007 season poster.
After coming 3rd in the championship in 2005, and then 2nd after an eventful 2006 season, Justin wants a good start to his 2007 title campaign. "Las Vegas is going to be a new circuit for us all, so it will be very exciting", he commented. "It's a great place to start the season and it looks like it's going to be a fun event with lots to do. I hope we can start the season off the right way with a positive weekend and end result. It's always important to have a good first race to get the momentum going for the rest of the year. So we'll go out there and give it our best, and hope to have the #9 CDW car and RSPORTS on the podium this weekend."
