Justin 4th fastest in Vegas first qualifying
Justin got his Vegas weekend off to a good start with a trouble free morning practice session and the 4th fastest time in first qualifying (1:20.310, 109.376 mph). Paul Tracy grabbed provisional pole and a guaranteed front row starting slot with a lap of 1:19.784 (110.097 mph).
Paul and 2nd fastest runner Simon Pagenaud were both on the softer, faster, red Bridgestone tyres. Sebastien Bourdais, who was 3rd fastest, and Justin ran both qualifying stints on the harder standard compound.
Justin enjoyed Champ Car's latest track, finding the surface unusually smooth for a street circuit with only a couple of nasty bumps.
"We were fairly happy with our pace this morning, but this afternoon it didn't quite go to plan", said Justin. "But we're in reasonable shape and the car seems pretty well balanced. We're not too far away and we'll keep working at it and hope to get pole tomorrow".
