Goodyear tire spokesperson reported the track temperature at 112f.

1:15 p.m. -- GREEN FLAG. Villeneuve and Herta go through Turn one side-by-side with Villeneuve exiting Turn two in the lead.

LL1--FULL COURSE YELLOW to retrieve #5 Gordon who spun and stalled in Turn three after contact with #10 Fernandez.

1:19 p.m.--LL3--GREEN FLAG

LL3--#8 De Ferran passed #4 Herta for second position. #33 Fabi also passed Herta who has possible header problems.

LL4--#49 Johnstone spun in Turn two, safety pushed the car and he continued.

By lap six Unser Jr. moved up four positions, tenth overall.

LL9--#10 Fernandez went off and on course in Turn seven and continued into the pits to change the nose cone.

LL9--FULL COURSE YELLOW, contact between cars #34 Zampedri and #5 Gordon. #34 stopped in Turn 11.

LL12--GREEN FLAG

After 15 laps the leaders are: #27, #8, #18 and #20.

LL18--Debris from car #10 Fernandez before Turn nine was hit by a number of cars, and moved off the track.

After 20 laps the leaders are: #27, #8, #33, #18 and #20. The lag has not gone above one second in the last five laps.

Laps 15 to 22, #1 Unser Jr., has been nose to tail with #9 Rahal fighting for position, ninth overall.

LL25--#1 Unser Jr. pitted for four tires and fuel, he dropped to 13th position. Unser Jr. is the first to pit of the scheduled pit stops. Unser's pit stop was 17.15 sec.

After 25 laps the leaders are #27, #8, #33, #18 and #20, the margin of the leader is 0.06 sec. The average speed of the race so far is 96.564 mph.

LL29--#27 Villeneuve pitted for four tires and fuel.  New leader #8 De Ferran.
Villeneuve led laps 1 through 28.  Villeneuve's pit stop was 14.9 secs.

After 30 laps the leaders are: #8, #33, #18 and #20.

LL30--#8 De Ferran pitted for four tires and fuel (12.15 secs.) he resumed in the lead.

LL32--Leaders are nose to tail with less than half a second between them.

LL32--Wheel-to-wheel contact between cars #9 Rahal and #31 Ribeiro.

LL35--#27 Villeneuve pitted for tires and fuel which dropped him to 11th position, the car had a punctured left front tire.

LL35--#1 Unser Jr. moved up to sixth overall.

LL39--#3 Tracy and #33 Fabi went side-by-side in Turn four battling for second position, Tracy passing Fabi after Fabi went wide in Turn two picking up a traffic cone on his left front wing.

LL39--#1 Unser Jr. moved to 5th position coming into Turn 11.

After 40 laps the leaders are: #8, #3, #33, #18 and #1. The leader has a 10.10 sec lead over second place.

After 45 laps the leaders are: #8, #3, #18, #1 and #20.

LL46--#27 pitted for tires after a right front puncture.

After 50 laps the leaders are: #8, #3, #18, #1 and #20. The leader has 11.24 sec lead.

LL54--#8 De Ferran has pitted for four tires and fuel.

LL54-#1 Unser Jr. pitted for four tires and fuel (15.0 sec).

LL55--New leader #18 Gugelmin, De Ferran led from laps 29 to 54.

LL55--Contact in Turn 11 between cars #5 Gordon and #55 Greco. #5 pitted for a new left front wing.

After 55 laps the leaders are: #18, #8, #20, #3, #6, leader has a 4.59 sec. lead.

LL57--#18 Gugelmin pitted for four tires and fuel, 15.3 sec. New Leader, #8 De Ferran.

LL57--#27 pitted for tires and a nose cone and front wing.

After 60 laps the leaders are: #8, #3, #18, #20 and #6. Unser jr. now must win for the Championship and trails the leader by 40.66 seconds in seventh position.

LL65--FULL COURSE YELLOW to retrieve #31 Ribeiro who after contact with #4 Herta went into the wall in Turn three. Left front of #4 and right front of #31 contacted. Unser Jr. moved up to sixth position after #33 Fabi pitted.

After 65 laps the leaders are: #8, #3, #18, #20 and #6.

LL70--GREEN FLAG

LL71--#15 Fittipaldi spun and went off course in Turn five, he is out of the race with mechanical problems.

LL72--#4 slow on course with a stuck throttle.

With ten laps left in the race the leaders are #8, #3, #18, #6 and #20. The leader has a 6.52 sec. lead. Unser Jr. trails the leader by 17.04 sec. still in sixth position.

LL79--#10 Fernandez pitted with a right rear flat tire.

With five laps remaining the leaders are #8, #3, #18, #6 and #20. The leader has a 8.02 second lead over second place. Unser, Jr. trails the leader by 21.64 sec.
