HILLIARD, OH . . .Coming off a hard fought sixth place finish at Portland, Team Rahal Shell driver Kenny Brack heads to the shores of Lake Erie this weekend for his first Grand Prix of Cleveland. "I have heard a lot of great things about the course at Cleveland," said Brack. "Everyone I have talked to has said what a passing friendly course it is and how the fans really get into the event because it is the only street course where you can see the entire course." Brack posted his fifth top-ten result of the season (third best in CART) at Portland and pulled even in the CART FedEx Championship standings with teammate Max Papis at 47 points (6th overall). Portland marked the first time this season that Brack had posted points on a road or street course after posting DNF's at Long Beach and Detroit. "It was important for us to get our first points on a road circuit," said Brack. "We have really worked hard in off season testing on refining our road racing skills. It isn't that running on road and street courses is a new experience, it is just a case or bringing those skills back to the forefront. I feel like we are at 100% after Portland. The last half of the race we were the fastest car on the track and I really felt like I was getting into the rhythm. If we can carry that over to Cleveland we have a chance to be on the podium." Brack has extensive racing experience on road and street courses from his days in Formula 3000 and Barber Saab. Cleveland will be his fourth road/street race of the 2000 season after driving exclusively on ovals for three seasons (1997-99) in the IRL. Before Brack dominated the Indy Racing League, he crafted a reputation as one of the sports premier young road racers. His record on the road courses of Barber Saab and Formula 3000 was one of dominance. In the run to his 1993 Barber Saab Championship Brack won six of the 12 races. In his last 11 races in Formula 3000 Brack won four times not including the controversial Formula 3000 finale in 1996 which he won but was later disqualified. In three years of racing Formula 3000, Brack posted five pole positions, 11 podium appearances and 14 top-five results.
