CART today announced that the scheduled race at Texas Motor Speedway, the third round of the CART FedEx Championship Series, has been postponed due to irresolvable concerns over the physical demands placed on the drivers at race speeds. The vast majority of drivers reported they had experienced high g-force related (vertigo-like) symptoms during longer practice stints.

Michel Jourdain Jr. "First, I want to say 'thanks' to CART for working so hard to try to find a
solution to this problem. If I knew it was safe for me and the other drivers, I would like to race. But right now, we don't have a way to do that. I hope that the fans will understand that CART, the drivers, and the teams have gone through every option that we could think of to try to make this event happen.

"I would also like to thank the Texas Motor Speedway for all the work that they did in addressing the safety issues that the Championship Drivers Association had raised before we got here this weekend."
