Today's schedule for the Miller Lite 225 was altered due to persistent precipitation during the morning hours. Instead of the standard two hour morning session followed by a one and three-quarter hour afternoon practice, CART adjusted the schedule to a single two-hour practice from 12:30-2:30 p.m. which was run under cool and cloudy conditions. The schedule for the remainder of the weekend is unchanged.

"We are still trying to get the balance right. At the beginning of the session, the car was too loose. We made a series of changes and now we have too much understeer at the exits of the corners. But we are moving in the right direction and I am confident the car will be better for tomorrow's qualifying session."
Herdez Bettenhausen will make two changes to its 6-man "over-the-wall" pitstop crew for this weekend's event. Heath "Opie" Huddleston will move from the inside front tire changing position to the inside rear. Tony Van Dongen, who joined Herdez Bettenhausen just last month, will take over duties at the inside front.
