Adrian Fernandez was one of several Honda-powered drivers to benefit from changing weather conditions at the Marconi Grand Prix of Cleveland, as the first qualifying group enjoyed a dry track while a sudden shower resulted in a completely wet circuit for the second half of the field.

At the end of the day it was Champ Car team owner/driver Fernandez second on the grid in his Tecate-sponsored machine, with Tony Kanaan on the outside of the third row for Mo Nunn Racing, and Shinji Nakano 10th in the second Fernandez entry.

Alex Zanardi and Dario Franchitti, quickest of the second qualifying group, will make up the seventh row for tomorrow's race; while Gil de Ferran and Michael Andretti are 20th and 21st. And two-race winner Helio Castroneves is back in 23rd after running only a handful of laps in the rain.

Tomorrow's forecast calls for the continued chance of rain showers in the Cleveland area, with the green flag scheduled to wave at 1:00 p.m. EDT and live television coverage on ABC.

Adrian Fernandez (#51 Tecate/Quaker State/Telmex Fernandez Racing Honda) Qualified 2nd: "The car has been good from the start of the weekend. We lost some time this morning with a turbocharger problem, but fortunately that was in practice and the car was very good again in qualifying and that really made my job much easier and I'm really happy for my guys."
