Moore Tests '99 Reynard At Firebird
December 13, 1998) - Greg Moore (Player's/Indeck Reynard Mercedes), fifth-place finisher in the 1998 FedEx Championship Series, continued preparations for the 1999 campaign with two days of testing in his brand new Reynard at the Firebird International Raceway road course near Phoenix, Ariz. last Thursday and Friday. Moore completed 87 miles of testing Thursday then returned for a three-hour session Friday. "It was a lot of fun to be out on the track again," he said. "Everything went real well. We worked on making some adjustments to quite a few things, such as the position of the gas and brake pedals, the steering wheel, the seats and seat belts. The Player's team displayed its usual sense of pride, caring and craftsmanship in ensuring that everything was working perfectly." Phil LePan, assistant team manager for Player's, was pleased with the information gained from the two-day session. "Our goal isn't to go out there and beat the Firebird track record, but at the same time, the Player's team is very competitive and we want to post fast times, even in testing," he said. "We also wanted to work on different things, so that Greg could get adjusted to the new car. I think we were able to accomplish all our objectives." Moore continued his Arizona tour with testing at Phoenix International Raceway earlier this week.
