JOURDAIN JR. EXPERIENCES ENGINE PROBLEMS DURING LAST TIMED SESSION

Mexican driver Michel Jourdain Jr. had a disappointing qualifying session this Saturday and could do no better than his provisional time set yesterday (1'35"109) after his Herdez-Viva Mexico!/Reynard Ford-Cosworth developed engine problems and finally the motor gave up. Thus, Jourdain Jr. will start this Sunday's IndyCarnival Australia race from the 25th spot.

Michel Jourdain Jr., Car #19 Herdez-Viva Mexico! Team: "Early in the morning practice we got to be within the top 12, but a drive shaft broke and I could not continue the session. Then, during the last qualifying practice the engine lost power and finally broke after three laps. The car is handling well, but we were unable to do a fast lap under these circumstances."

Antonio Marron, Motorsports Director of the Herdez-Viva Mexico! Team: "This was a very disappointing situation, the people of Ford-Cosworth obviously did not feel well with this and hopefully tomorrow the team can put all the things together to achieve a good result."
