The Molson Indy Vancouver is Gidley's 18th career start in CART, 5th with Della Penna
Gidley set a career-best finish of 6th at Road America two weeks ago.
The team's best finish in 72 starts is Richie Hearn's 5th set at the 1998 US 500.
Only Gidley and Adrian Fernandez have finished the last 4 races in the points.
Gidley's career-best qualifying position of 10th was set in April at Long Beach.
In his 3 races with Players and 4 with Della Penna this season, Gidley and has finished in the points in 5 races, with mechanical DNF's in the remaining two.
Memo's record with Della Penna:
Michigan: Q20, F10
Chicago Q20, F10
Mid Ohio Q23, F12
Road America Q18 F6 (Della Penna's best finish since Hearn was P6 in Vancouver '99)
American driver Memo Gidley continued to struggle with a lack of traction today in Vancouver, unable to better yesterday's qualifying time of 63.300 seconds. Gidley and his "Red Menace" pit crew will have one final chance to look for more grip in tomorrow morning's practice session.
"We're suffering from a general lack of grip right now," explains Gidley. "If you've ever driven a passenger car on an icy road, you can imagine the feeling. Moments like this are part of racing, and you have to stay hopeful that tomorrow could bring better news. This team has dug deep on Sunday mornings before, and in several of our races together we have improved the car significantly in the final practice. So we'll be hitting the books tonight."
Keep an eye on Gidley in tomorrow's race, as he rocketed from 18th to 12th in the first lap at Road America just two weeks ago.
