LEXINGTON, Ohio - A promising run by Project Racing Group (P.R.G.) driver Luiz Garcia Jr. was halted during the Friday morning practice session of the Miller Lite 200.

Garcia lost control in Turn 11 of the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and damaged his 2000 Hollywood-Embratel-Telegate-Reynard/Mercedes-Benz. The car, which sustained damage to the left side and suspension could not be repaired in time for first qualifying session, and Garcia resorted to his 1999 Reynard back up.

Despite running several laps in the year-old car, the Brazilian could not top his fastest time set in the morning-69.576 seconds (116.833 mph).

Garcia expects the 2000 car to be ready for Saturday's morning practice and final qualifying. Quotes "I lost it towards the end of the session. I had new tires on the car and slid off, touched the curb, snapped the car out and hit the outside wall. I almost saved it, but didn't have enough time. Unfortunately, the car was too damaged to get it back in time for today's qualifying, but not bad enough to miss tomorrow's final qualifying. Before that happened, we were having a good session." - Luiz Garcia Jr., Driver
