Greg Moore was injured in a scooter accident in the paddock this morning. He did not participate in today's official practice or qualifying sessions for Sunday's race. Moore's injuries included a minor fracture of the forefinger of his right hand, lacerations on the right hand and a bruised hip. Moore was allowed to take to the track for a special practice session at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon and is expected to drive in tomorrow's race. Super-sub Roberto Moreno is at the track and available if needed.

Sunday's Marlboro 500 will be Michael Andretti's 250th start in the CART FedEx series. Andretti's 250 starts ranks him second to only Al Unser Jr. who has 272.

Stefan Johansson Motorsports announced an alliance with ER's Anthony Edwards and Artisan Entertainment producer Jonathan Shestack to form a new CART team next season. Sponsorship will come from Cure Autism Now (CAN). Team CAN has yet to determine their chassis/engine package, nor have they announced a driver for the team.

Jack Sprague won today's Craftsman Truck Series race this afternoon taking the series championship as well.

CART and the California Speedways announced a deal to continue conducting CART races at the 2.029-mile superspeedway through 2004.
