CHRISTIAN FITTIPALDI, #11 Kmart Toyota-Lola: "I'm confused as to why we dropped from second fastest yesterday to where we are now. The balance of the car isn't a disaster but we have no grip. It's not like we made some big, drastic changes with the car. We touched very little but we aren't as fast as the rest of them obviously. I managed to finish seventh after qualifying 14th in 1996 here but the race strategy will have to go our way for that to happen and we will have to find some grip between now and the race."
CRISTIANO da MATTA, #6 Texaco/Havoline/Kmart Toyota-Lola: "The car is the same as when we first went out here. We have not made any big gains. Our qualifying position is a combination of things. We are a little down on power this weekend and the car isn't great either. The tires are at their peak for two laps and even if I would have ran good laps on those two, my time wouldn't have been much better anyway. We were in the top nine yesterday but I said I thought the car felt like a 15th place car. Today it is actually a 17th place car."
