Wearing his trademark mile-wide grin, Max Papis relished every moment of his victory today in the Freightliner/G.I. Joe's 200 Presented by Texaco at Portland International Raceway. While still standing in the cockpit of his #7 Miller Lite machine, the spirited Italian said "The Firestone tires were great; they were there all day!"

Quote from Joe Barbieri, Bridgestone/Firestone Motorsports Project Supervisor: "Max Papis drove an incredible race. With constant pressure from behind by a number of hungry wolves, he kept his cool and focused on what appeared to be an error-free drive. While team strategies on set-up for this race varied considerably, it was obvious Team Rahal had it dialed in just right. We also congratulate Roberto (Moreno) and Christian (Fittipaldi) for their well-deserved podium finishes. While this race started out with an over abundance of yellow flags, it finished in grand style, giving the Portland fans an opportunity to see some really good racing."

Quote from runner-up, Roberto Moreno (Patrick Racing): "Today was a great day for Firestone. The tires lasted all day with no problems despite very changing conditions on the track. The tires stayed with us no matter what. It's a great day for the Visteon Team. I had a little crash with another car at the beginning, and that affected my downforce when it broke my front wing."
