*The 2000 Target Grand Prix will be Fernandez' 117th CART start.

Adrian Fernandez

"The Tecate/Quaker State/Patrick Racing team is in a good position right now as far as the championship. We just need to keep finishing races and scoring points. If we stay near the top of the points race I know we have the ability to make a run at the championship."

"This is the first time I will be racing at Chicago Motor Speedway. Last year I missed the race because of the injury to my arm. However, The Tecate/Quaker State/Patrick Racing team had a good test at Chicago Motor Speedway so we have a lot of data going into this race. From the test, the track seems nice and I am confident we will have a good race. It is a different kind of short oval. The corners are tighter and with the new aerodynamic package, hopefully it will be an exciting race. It is going to be tough to pass so qualifying is going to be very important. Race strategy and pit work will also be key, so I have something of an advantage with Mr. Patrick and John Ward calling my race, and the work of the Tecate/Quaker State/Patrick Racing team, which is one of the top pit crews in the series. "

PATRICK RACING TEAM NOTES DRIVER: ROBERTO MORENO #20 - VISTEON/PATRICK RACING FORD-COSWORTH TARGET GRAND PRIX - CHICAGO MOTOR SPEEDWAY ROUND 12 - 2000 FEDEX CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - JULY 28-30, 2000

Roberto Moreno will be seeking to regain the winning ways that propelled him into first place in the FedEx Championship Series, at this weekend's Target Grand Prix. Moreno held the top spot in the championship race for almost a month before slipping to second following last weekend's Michigan 500. He trails series leader Michael Andretti by 14 points, 104-90. Despite suffering mechanical failures in the last two races, Moreno, has been extremely consistent this year and ranks among the statistical leaders in every category.

*Moreno has qualified in the top-10 in eight of 11 races, with one pole. He has finished seven of 11 races, each time in the top-10 including four podium showings. He captured his first career CART victory at Cleveland, took seconds at Miami and Portland and a third in Japan. *Moreno, 41, a native of Brazil, now resides in Weston, Florida. He is in his seventh CART season, but is driving full-time for just the third time. This is his first season with Patrick Racing. Moreno has one career CART pole (Cleveland '00) and one career CART victory (Cleveland '00) - 1 - *Moreno's last major win was in Birmingham, England in 1988. His last major Championship was the Intercontinental Formula 3000 title also in 1988.

*The 2000 Target Grand Prix will be Moreno's 73rd CART start.

*Moreno will be racing at Chicago Motor Speedway for the second time. At the inaugural Target Grand Prix Moreno qualified eighth and finished ninth.

CART PERFORMANCE HISTORY AT CHICAGO: YEAR S F 1999 8 9

*Previously known as "Super-sub" for his ability to take over for injured drivers and produce at a very high level, Moreno is coming off a highly productive 1999 season. He scored points in eight of 13 starts, substituting for Mark Blundell and Christian Fittipalidi, and placed a CART career best 14th in the standings with 58 points. He has finished in the top-10 in 13 of his last 23 CART starts and in the points 15 times.

PATRICK RACING NOTES: Roberto Moreno Quotes: "I am looking forward to going back to Chicago and having a good result. The Visteon/Patrick Racing team had a great test there a couple of weeks ago and I believe we have a good set-up for the race. It is a challenging track and the race is well promoted. Last year I finished ninth and was running competitive speeds with the leaders at the end of the race. It was an exciting race and I think this year it will be even better. The track has had a year to age and hopefully there will be two racing lines, which would make for more passing. But, we will have to see how the wing package affects the cars and what they will allow us to do."

"As in any race for a championship you are going to have ups and downs during the season. Hopefully, the Visteon/Patrick Racing team has had it share of downs. This is a very competitive series. If you are going to fight for the championship you have to be consistent, take advantage of your opportunities and score points as often as you can. The Visteon/Patrick Racing team will continue to work hard and I know that we will be in the championship hunt for the rest of the season."
