"It's been a tough day. In this morning's practice, the lap times had been getting better and better. And then, on the last corner of the last lap, I put a wheel off the track and the grass just sucked the whole car in! The Herdez Competition crew did a tremendous job putting the car back together in time for qualifying. But then we had another problem - with the alternator - so I couldn't get more than one hot lap in at a time. The team did a great job trying to fix it but we just ran out of time. Without that problem, I'm sure we could have had a decent qualifying run. I think I've got a handle on the track now though I'm sure there's still lots of little tricks you can learn here over the years. We had a tough day but the crew really did a great job and I'm looking forward to a good result tomorrow."
Keith Wiggins - Managing Director
"After practice this morning, we decided that we wanted to keep the engine and gearbox from the primary car for qualifying so the crew swapped them over onto the back up car. They made a heroic effort in getting that work completed in time for qualifying this afternoon so it's a bit frustrating to encounter the alternator problem."
