Good Morning from The Raceway at Belle Isle for the final day of qualifying for Sunday's Tenneco Automotive Grand Prix of Detroit. Today's CART on-track activities kick off with a full-field 75-minute practice session at 10 a.m., followed by the final round of qualifying at 1:45 p.m. MAX PAPIS sits on the Provisional Pole with his 114.280 mph lap in yesterday's session.

GREEN FLAG waves at 10 a.m. to start the morning practice session. Firestone engineers report a track temperature of 84 degrees F. and an ambient temperature of 84 degrees F. as well at the start of the session.

RED FLAG waves at 10:08 a.m. after #20 MORENO stalls on course at Turn 4. CART safety workers quickly hook the car up and tow it back to the Pit Area.

At 10:10 a.m., 10 minutes into the session and under the full-course Red Flag, the fastest driver is #27 FRANCHITTI with a lap of 112.558 mph (1:15.033), followed by #3 CASTRONEVES (112.139 mph; 1:15.314) and #26 TRACY(111.794 mph; 1:15.314).

GREEN FLAG waves at 10:14 a.m. to resume the session.

At 10:19 a.m., #8 BRACK brushes the wall at Turn 8 with the left rear tire but continues on course without apparent damage to the car.

At 10:20 a.m., 20 minutes into the session, the fastest driver is now #1 MONTOYA with a lap of 113.010 mph; 1:14.733), followed by #3 CASTRONEVES (112.706 mph; 1:14.935) and #8 BRACK (112.594 mph; 1:15.009).

At 10:28 a.m., #3 CASTRONEVES clocks the fastest lap of the session with a speed of 113.475 mph (1:14.427) on his 13th circuit.

At 10:30 a.m., 30 minutes into the session, the fastest driver is still #3 CASTRONEVES with his earlier lap of 113.475 mph (1:14.427), followed by #7 PAPIS (113.013 mph; 1:14.731) and #1 MONTOYA (113.010 mph; 1:14.733).

At 10:40 a.m., 40 minutes into the session, the fastest drivers and speeds remain unchanged from the 10:30 a.m. report.

RED FLAG waves at 10:48 a.m. after 31 MONTOYA stalls between Turns 10 and 11. CART safety workers quickly hook the car up and tow it back to Pit Road.

At 10:50 a.m., 50 minutes into the session and under the Red Flag, the fastest driver is still #3 CASTRONEVES with a lap of 113.475 mph (1:14.427), followed now by #27 FRANCHITTI (113.131 mph; 1:14.653) and #7 PAPIS (113.013 mph; 1:14.731).

GREEN FLAG waves at 10:51 a.m. to resume the session. #1 MONTOYA comes back on course in his primary car after a brief visit with his crew on Pit Road.

At 11 a.m., the top three drivers and speeds remain unchanged from the 10:50 a.m. report.

RED FLAG waves at 11:02 a.m. after #16 JOURDAIN JR. slides into the tire barrier rear first at Turn 6. The driver exits the car under his own power as CART safety workers hook the car up and tow it back to the Pit Area. The car has sustained slight damage to the rear suspension and has lost the rear wing.

GREEN FLAG waves at 11:08 a.m. to resume the session.

At 11:10 a.m., 70 minutes into the session, the fastest three drivers and speeds remain unchanged from the 11 a.m.

At 11:12 a.m., #1 MONTOYA clocks the fastest lap of the session and the weekend with a lap of 115.311 mph (1:13.242) on his 16th circuit around the course.

Also at 11:12 a.m., #34 MARQUES brushes the wall at Turn 12 but continues on course without apparent damage to the car.

RED FLAG waves at 10:14 a.m. after #3 CASTRONEVES spins at Turn 5 and slides into the apron off the racing line, stalling the car.

CHECKERED FLAG waves at 11:15 a.m. to end the morning practice session with #1 MONTOYA still the fastest driver with his earlier lap of 115.311 mph (1:13.242), followed by #3 CASTRONEVES (114.998 mph; 1:13.441) and #97X DA MATTA (114.077 mph; 1:14.034). Provisional Pole-sitter #27 FRANCHITTI wound up 7th in the standings. FedEx Championship Series drivers introduced 29 different cars to the track in this morning's session with secondary cars utilized by #97X DA MATTA, #55X KANAAN, #32X CARPENTIER, #6X ANDRETTI, #16X JOURDAIN JR., #20X MORENO, #10X FONTANA, and #19X KUROSAWA. CART drivers logged 608 laps during this morning's session.
