Herdez-backed driver Michel Jourdain Jr., with his top-eight finish in the Tenneco Automotive Grand Prix of Detroit, achieved his second-best result in Champ Cars. He started from the 16th spot and gained five points, giving him a total of eight in the season, after seven races.

Michel Jourdain Jr., Car #16, Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports: "I am happy that we were eighth. I think this was a good result for us, despite a minor oil leak. We thought that I was going to be black-flagged, because the car was smoking, but happily that did not happen. This was our best day in the season."

He added: "Obviously, this is not the result that we are looking for; we want better, but the most important is that we can see our improvements. The Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports Team has been working very well and if we keep doing this, I think that very soon will achieve 'the big result'."

Joe Ward, Team Manager, Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports: "The Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports Team is very happy with Michel Jourdain Jr.. He ran a great race. This eighth-place finish is the second best in his career (his best was seventh in Elkhart Lake, last year), and the best he has had with our Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports Team."
