Strong Run for Mario, Day Ends in Frustration for Ryan
Mario Dominguez, #55 Herdez/Lola/ Ford-Cosworth
Mario on the race: "I was very happy with the way the car was running in the race. We had a great race going with a great strategy and my pit stops were fantastic. I spent the whole race just catching Tracy and putting pressure on him. I think we had a shot at a race win because he had to stop as I did, but we were looking at a very short stop. Unfortunately there was a yellow and I didn't get such a good re-start and Bourdais and I made contact. As a result, I went to fourth and that is where I finished."
Ryan Hunter-Reay, #4 Herdez/Lola/Ford-Cosworth
Ryan on the race: "After an extremely long weekend, with struggling to find grip the two days prior, we had a good race going. We were really fast on our own; up until we retired we had the fastest lap. Then I was chasing for sixth position and for some reason I spun. I will look at the data over the next couple days."
Keith Wiggins, Co-Owner/Managing Director: "Obviously we are disappointed because I think whatever way the situation would have fallen we would have been second. We knew we had a very good last pit stop with Mario and so that would have got us ahead of Paul. I think Bourdais would have realistically come through and past us anyway so I think second is where we should have been. It was very unfortunate that Ryan spun and cost us a re-start and of course on the re-start Bourdais did a good job. So it is just a frustrating position for both cars when I think we could have been up front."
