Cleveland, OH (July 11, 1998) - Alex Zanardi went two-tenths of a second slower than he did in yesterday's qualifying session but was still fast enough to sit atop the standings in this morning's practice session.

Bryan Herta was second this morning followed by Michael Andretti, Al Unser Jr., and Gil de Ferran in fifth. Rounding out the top ten were Vasser, Pruett, Gugelmin, Fittipaldi, and Franchitti. Twenty nine cars were on track in this morning's session.

Scott Pruett was the only driver to use both the primary car and the backup in the session. Pruett turned in the seventh fastest time in the No. 20x car with a lap at 57.836 seconds. Pruett's fast time today was just six one-hundredths of a second slower than yesterday's qualifying time set in the primary car. Pruett's best time in the primary car this morning was 59.356 seconds.

Helio Castro-Neves, Paul Tracy and Michel Jourdain Jr. all ran in their backup cars this morning. Tracy's primary car developed gearbox problems yesterday. Team Kool Green has decided to use the backup car for Tracy this weekend. Tracy finished this morning's session 20th, practicing on old tires. The team is happy with the set up on the car and is looking forward to tomorrow's race. Tracy qualified sixth in yesterday's qualifying session.
