TRACY IN RECORD-SETTING MODE AT CLEVELAND
Earning the 30th Champ Car victory of his stellar career, Paul Tracy drove the #3 Mountain Grand Lodge/Avalanche Bay Lola/Ford-Cosworth/Bridgestone racer to victory today on the 2.106-mile Burke Lakefront Airport in Cleveland. Tracy started from pole position, led 46 of the 91 laps in a timed contest and secured first place in the chase for the Vanderbilt Cup on a traditionally hot, sunny Sunday afternoon.
In winning the Champ Car Grand Prix of Cleveland presented by U.S. Bank, the Canadian secured seventh place on the all-time victory list, surpassing Rick Mears. "We didn't have the fastest car all day but our Lola was consistent. Our Lola has been so fast in every practice session, on old or new Bridgestone tires. My strategy really was to get to the first corner first and just as fast as I could go," Tracy explained.
