After his strong showing in Portland, Justin is looking forward to the fifth event of the 2007 Champ Car season this weekend in Cleveland, Ohio. The race around the runways and taxiways of Burke Lakefront Airport has brought mixed results for Justin on his three previous attempts. Last year he qualified 3rd, but retired with a broken steering arm, agonisingly close to a likely victory. Even so, the bumpy track with its fast, wide open turns is one of his favourites.
"I really enjoy the Cleveland circuit", he commented. "We hope that we can continue to be competitive there. Last year was very disappointing, but I'm hoping we can fight for the win again and this time put the #9 CDW car in victory lane. If we can continue the positive momentum from our podium finish in Portland, then we can go out there striving for our first win of the season this weekend."
En route to Cleveland, the RSPORTS team made a detour to Elkhart Lake in Wisconsin to test at Road America. The focus was on finding more speed from the car, as well as preparing for the race there in mid-August. Justin and RSPORTS team-mate Alex Tagliani had a productive two days, but still have more work to do to catch pace-setter Sebastien Bourdais; they posted the 4th and 8th fastest times respectively.
Viewers in the UK can watch this weekend's Cleveland race live on Eurosport 2 on Sunday at 18:00.
The Cleveland race marks the start of another round of three back-to-back Champ Car events for Justin. On 1st July, after a 39 year absence, Champ Car returns to Circuit Mont-Tremblant in St. Jovite, Quebec, while the long-established Toronto street race is a week later on 8th July.
