CICERO, ILL. - Luiz Garcia Jr. was on his way to salvaging a tough weekend for him and the Project Racing Group (P.R.G.) when his day ended on Lap 99 of the Target Grand Prix of Chicago.

Mechanical problems on Garcia's Hollywood-Embratel-Telegate Reynard/Mercedes-Benz were the cause, however an exact reason won't be determined until later.

The team will head to Road America at Elkhart Lake, Wis., this week for the CART test.

Luiz Garcia Jr.:
"This was definitely not one of our best weekends of the year. After the nice results we had at Toronto and Michigan, this one won't be a lasting memory for me. We had problems all weekend in practice and qualifying and just couldn't get the car to work properly. We were on our way to having a nice race when the problem occurred. I decided to stop the car immediately rather than try and go to the pits. With the way cars were dropping out, had we stayed in we could have scored. We have our test this week at Elkhart Lake and the next few races will be on road courses where we will be more competitive."

Andreas Leberle, Team Owner:
"Yes, we had a long weekend. I think we had a good run during the race and Luiz was ahead of Gidley, so we had some points in the making until mechanical problems put us out of the race."
