CART FanFest Gets An Early Start At Motorsports Hall Of Fame Expo (December 27, 1998) - The CART FedEx Championship Series mobile Fan Fest gets an early start on the New Year January 2 and 3, when it travels to Novi, Mich., home of the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America, for the Hall's annual expo. The Fan Fest display, which has played host to more than a quarter million fans in each of the past two years, has a busy January schedule, with three appearances on tap. "The CART FedEx Championship Series Fan Fest display is an excellent marketing tool that allows us to showcase our sponsors and the various aspects of our sport to hundreds of thousands of potential fans across the country every year," said Jeff Gooding, CART Director of Promotions. "With the Fan Fest's interactivity, there are things for everyone to enjoy and learn about the FedEx Championship Series and its drivers." The Fan Fest display includes a number of interactive elements focusing on the high-tech sport of Champ Car racing, including a kiosk featuring the sponsors of the FedEx Championship Series; an eight-person Sony Playstation video wall, featuring the CART World Series video game; and listening stations provided by Motorola Racing Radios, which showcase actual radio transmissions, recorded during race and test sessions, of the top drivers and crews of the FedEx Championship Series. Also featured are a Mercedes-Benz C43 high-performance safety car and a video walk-through of a Champ Car presented by OMEGA, the Official Timekeeper of the FedEx Championship Series. Confirmed dates for the CART Fan Fest display include the Philadelphia Auto Show (Jan. 9-16), the North Carolina Karting Show in Hickory, N.C.; (Jan. 29-31); the Cincinnati SEMA Show (Feb. 18-21); the Cleveland Auto Show (Feb. 26-March 7); the Pomona (Calif.) Auto Show (March 26-28) and the San Diego Auto Show (March 31-Apr. 4). Additional dates will be placed on the schedule as they are confirmed.
