HILLIARD, Ohio (January 28) -- Bryan Herta wrapped up an initial two-day test session with the new Swift 011.c chassis yesterday, logging over 280 laps on the one-mile oval at Phoenix International Raceway in Phoenix, Arizona.

"Today was really our first real day of running," said team manager Steve Dickson. "We worked on setup and aero balance. It was a good test. We made progress, Bryan's happy and Swift has good information."

Herta ended the test with a best lap of 21.0 (seconds) in the Honda/Swift, bettering his time from Wednesday by 0.9 seconds.

"We definitely made some good steps forward," said Herta. "Mechanically, the car is great. I am really impressed with Swift and the guys. The car is very reliable.

"Again, we are just scratching the surface on performance. We have two days of testing under our belt, and we are just starting to improve on performance. We ran out of time before we ran out of things to try. Other teams have had a head start, and we're playing catch up at the moment. We're not setting the world on fire yet, but we're closing the gap."
