Jourdain will start tenth at Brands Hatch
WEST KINGSDOWN, KENT . . . Team Rahal's Gigante driver Michel Jourdain Jr. will start tenth for Monday's CART Champ Car World Series race at historic Brands Hatch. Jourdain picked up nearly a full mile per hour over his provisional speed, yet he lost a spot on the starting grid.
"We made the Gigante car a little better than yesterday, but it wasn't as good as what I would have liked," said Jourdain. "Tomorrow will be a very tough race, especially if we get the weather (heavy rain showers) that is being forecast. The warmer conditions gave us a little trouble today with our set-up. The tires temps came up very quickly and we didn't need the extra laps that would have been helpful yesterday. This isn't where we want to start but now we have to make the best of it. Tomorrow will be a long race and with the rule changes (elimination of the pit windows) there will be a number of strategies that the teams can utilize."
The tenth place starting spot is Jourdain's fourth top-ten start of the season, but it mark his first time starting out side the top-five this season.
Points leader Paul Tracy will start from the pole for the first time this season and rookie sensation Sebastien Bourdais will start second. Tracy captured the pole with his fast lap of 115.960 mph on Saturday.
The London Champ Car Trophy, Round 4 of the CART Champ Car World Series, will be run Monday, May 5th at 2:00 p.m. local time (9:00 a.m. EDT in the United States). Fox Sports Espanol and TV Azteca will carry the race live. The race will be broadcast on a tape delayed basis throughout the United States on CBS on Saturday, May 10th (1:00 p.m.). The race can be heard live on CART.com around the world.
