Potenza Race Tires Supplied: Bridgestone delivered 608 dry-condition and 340 wet-condition Potenza race tires for use this weekend. All were produced at the Bridgestone Technical Center in Akron, Ohio. Per Champ Car World Series regulations, Bridgestone brings a single dry tire specification and a single wet spec, allowing every team and driver equal footing on the racetrack.

* Dry-condition tires ("slicks"): Each car receives up to seven sets of slicks (28 tires) for the race weekend, to use as its team sees fit in the practice, qualifying and race sessions. Bridgestone Motorsport engineers chose a proven tire product to utilize for the current Champ Cars' first visit to the fabled Brands Hatch short circuit. Available for use is the Potenza road course tire with the highest level of grip, which saw action at five permanent circuits in 2002. While this is the first race weekend use of this "softest" road course specification in '03, it was put through its paces in the January open test at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

* Wet-condition tires ("rains"): Bridgestone supplies each car up to four new sets of grooved rain tires per race weekend on road and street courses, as needed. In addition, teams may bring two sets of rain tires per car issued at a previous event. Since Brands Hatch is a traditional road circuit, Bridgestone brought its road course rain tire for use during wet periods this weekend. This tire spec was used on all road and street circuits in 2002, but with development of a new street-course specific rain tire for this year, the returning tire has been designated for road courses only in '03. If needed, this will be the road course rain tire's first race weekend application of the season.

Bridgestone Takes on Presenting Sponsor Status: Bridgestone entered Champ Car competition in 2002 as Official Tire Supplier to every entrant. The world's largest tire and rubber company increased its stake and profile in 2003, becoming Presenting Sponsor of what is now known as Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford.
